Volunteer Opportunities

Sundale has a variety of volunteer opportunities. We depend on these services to meet the needs of our residents. Due to the number of programs we provide and the number of residents we serve, we attempt to attract volunteers from all age groups to give the volunteer and the resident an interesting experience.

We recruit volunteers from many different resources. We welcome church groups, homemaker organizations, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, WVU student organizations, day cares, and high school service learning programs, just to name a few. We also encourage individuals from the community to come spend time with us. The personal rewards for making a difference in the lives of nursing home residents are just not measurable.

Our volunteers provide services such as group activities, i.e., bingo, trivia, poetry, exercise, social events, and gospel programs. Some of our volunteers are interested in working with residents independently on projects such as crossword puzzles, fine motor skill activities, games, reading and most important, socialization.

Volunteer opportunities are available from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. We always welcome individuals with new ideas and skills they would like to share. Entertainers are always interesting features. We look forward to having individuals provide music whether it is playing an instrument or singing. There are so many ways you can volunteer. So why not become a Sundale Volunteer today.

We provide training in fire drills, privacy and confidentiality. We orient you to resident’s preferences and dispositions. We want to make your volunteer experience a pleasant and rewarding one. To make an appointment for an interview, call Donna M. Tennant at (304) 599-0497.
