Management Team

Michael W. Hicks, President

Mr. Hicks is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in West Virginia and recieved Bachelor of Science degrees from West Virginia University in Business Administration (Accounting and Financial Institutions emphasis) and Economics from 1978 and 1984 respectively. Since starting with Crossgates in 1985, Mr, Hicks has specialized in reimbursement issues relative to federal (Medicare) and state (Medicaid) cost reporting requirements for nursing homes owned and/or operated by Crossgates Medical, Inc. His background in third party reimbursement has been of primary importance in policy making decisions relative to provider issues. He is responsible for the development of policies and procedures for all aspects of the operation. Mr. Hicks develops marketing strategies, budgets, accounting systems, schedules openings and initiates the selection process for new administrators.

Mr. Hicks is a past president of the West Virginia Health Care Association (2003 – 2005) and has served and/or chaired various WVHCA committees since 1993, including budget and finance as well as payment and nominating. Additionally, Mr. Hicks has served on the board of the American Health Care Association representing West Virginia long-term care facilities and as a member of the Non-Proprietary Committee of AHCA from 2003 through 2004. He has served as the treasurer of First Baptist Church of Morgantown since 1990 and is a past president and former member of the board of directors of Monongalia County Habitat for Humanity.

 

Lisa K. Gallien-White, Administrator

 

Mrs. White is also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the State of West Virginia and received a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree (business management and marketing emphasis) from Fairmont State College in 1992 and a Certificate in Healthcare Administration from the Beverly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University in 1994. Mrs. White's ability to interpret and analyze Quality Indicator reports from the West Virginia Medical Institute, which compares individual facility quality indicators with state and national benchmarks, has enabled Sundale to focus on improving patient care, strengthen care giver skills and allow Sundale residents to enjoy the highest practical level of physical and emotional well being. Her technical and educational background provide and excellent basis for the development of medical policies and procedures relating to the nursing home profession.

 

Mrs. White is a past president of the West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) and has served on various WVHCA committees. She was named Administrator of the Year by the West Virginia Activity Professional Association in 2003 and 2008; Distinguished Administrator of the Year in 2008 by the West Virginia Health Care Association; and was recognized by the WVHCA in 2002 for receiving a deficiency free survey.

 

 

Donna M. Tennant, BA, ACC, Admissions, Marketing Activities Director

Donna M. Tennant has been at Sundale going on 17 years.  She is a Nationally Certified Activity Consultant and oversees the Activity Department.  She also does Admissions and Marketing which is another love of hers.  She enjoys working with the community and telling others how wonderful she feels the care is at Sundale.  Donna has had many of her loved ones there in the past and still has family there now.  Donna has a Bachelors Degree from Fairmont State University with an emphasis in Health Care Administration and Marketing.  In 2007, Donna accepted an appointment to serve on the Board of Directors of the Mon County Health Department. Donna has been married to her husband Floyd for the past 30 years and they have two grown children, Tammy and Brian as well as grandchildren that she totally adores.  All of Donna’s family volunteers their time at Sundale and they have grown to enjoy being there as much as she does.  Donna says “It is a part of our life”.  Donna is involved in many professional organizations.

 

Beverly Allen, CDM, Dietary Manager

Sundale Nursing Home has the services of a full time Certified Dietary Manager. Beverly Allen has been employed at Sundale Nursing Home for a total of 31 years. Bev started in the dietary departmart as a dietary aide, then trained to cook. Bev became the Assistant Dietary Manager in 1986 and held that postion for 18 years. Bev received her Certification as a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Food Protection Professional in Oct. 2002. In 2004 the postion of Dietary Manager became available and Bev accepted the postion. Bev has also completed a Food Manager's Training Course conducted by the Monongalia County Health Department in June 2005.   

 

Sharon Jeffrey, RN, Director of Nursing

Sharon L. Jeffrey, BSN, RN is a native of Morgantown and has been employed at Sundale Nursing Home for fourteen years.  She has been the Director of Nursing for the past nine years.  Sharon graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.  She is also a current member of the West Virginia University School of Nursing Alumni Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Alpha Rho Chapter, and a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.  She is also a current committee member of the West Virginia Health Care Association, serving on the Nursing Education Subcommittee and the QI Committee.  Before being appointed to her current position, she worked as an RN supervisor and a certified Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator at Sundale.  She also completed the Educate the Educator Workshop for Instructors of Nursing Assistants through Human Resources Development and Training, Inc.  Awards include West Virginia University Foundation Outstanding Senior and Hazel A. Johnson Nursing Scholarship Award.  Sharon is married to Dwight W. Jeffrey and they have one daughter Misty, and a granddaughter Abigail. 

 

Dawn D. Proietti, MSW, Director of Social Services

Dawn D. Proietti, M.S.W. has worked as the Director of Social Services at Sundale Nursing Home since 1989.   She holds both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from WVU and also holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Potomac State College in Pre-Social Work.    Her area of concentration during her master’s level education was aging.     Dawn is available to assist residents and families  with adjusting to life at the facility if their stay will be long term.  She is also knowledgeable of community services and discharge planning and able to assist those residents who come to the facility for short term rehabilitation services to return to independent living at home.      Dawn is also available to assist families and residents with financial planning, applying for Medicaid to assist with nursing home payment and understanding both Medicare and Medicaid.
